Spreadsheet Server Ribbon

After Spreadsheet Server is installed and initiated as an Excel add-in, a custom Spreadsheet Server ribbon is added in Excel. Use the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon to access and process functions in the application:

Menu Item Description

Recalc

Recalculates all formulas in the worksheet. Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, recalculate formulas for a workbook, worksheet, or selection, etc.)

Cache

Opens the Local Cache or Global Cache panel, listing cached records (see View or Refresh Local Cache or View or Refresh Global Cache for more information). Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, view cache records, clear the cache, recalculate, clear buffer, etc.).

Refresh

Clears and rebuilds memory of all stored items.

Execute Reports

Generates detailed reports for all GXE and GEXD formulas in the workbook (see Expand to Account Balances, Expand to Journals, and GEXD Formula for more information) . Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, all or selected GXEs or GEXDs, account detail reports (see Generate Account Detail for Current Sheet for more information), etc.

Drill Down

Based on the formula in the current active cell and the default action assigned to the Drill Downdown arrow in the user's Spreadsheet Server Settings:

Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, drill down to panel or worksheet options (see Drill Down to Journals per Account(s) and Drill Down to Selected Ad Hoc for more information).

SSRibbon_DrillDown

Summary Drill Down

Opens the Summary Drill Down (see Drill Down to Summarized Account Balances for more information) and related summary drill down options.

Expand GL Row

Expands the balances for the selected GXL formulas on a row into account details (see Expand or Collapse Row for a GXL Formula for my information).  Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, expand row, expand row by segment, or expand all rows).

Collapse GL Row

Removes the expanded account detail rows in the selection (see Expand or Collapse Row for a GXL Formula for more information). Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, collapse a row or all rows in the worksheet or workbook).

Hide Rows

Hides any row on the worksheet containing GXL and/or GEXQ formulas in which the net result is zero for all cells (see Hide Rows with Zero Balances for more information). Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, hide zero rows in the worksheet or workbook).

Restore Rows

Displays previously-hidden rows in the workbook (see Hide Rows with Zero Balances for more information). Click the drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, restore hidden zero rows in the worksheet or workbook).

Formula Builder

Opens the Formula Builder panel, allowing users to quickly create a template in a worksheet (see Build a Template with Formula Builder and Build a Template for Queries for more information) and to maintain parameters for a formula (see Create or Maintain GL Formulas and Create or Maintain Segment Lists for more information).

SSRibbon Formula Builder

Query Designer

Opens the Query Designer application, allowing users to design, maintain, and run queries.

Lookup

Click the drop-down list to access shortcuts which open the Select Item panel with the values returned from the specified query, allowing users to select values to be returned to the spreadsheet (see Execute Lookup without a GEXS Formula for more information).

Query

Click the drop-down list to access shortcuts to favorite SAP T-Codes or queries, allowing users to select a SAP T-Code and the desired execution variant, or, to select a SAP T-Code or query and enter the parameters in the Query pane (see Execute SAP T-Code without a GEXD Formula and Execute Query without a GEXD Formula for more information).

Note: The shortcuts available are based on the user's licensed features, the Available on Ribbon option setting for queries, the assignment of T-Codes in Application Configurator, and the pinning of T-Codes to the SAP Ledger Specifics Settings panel.

SSRibbon Query

Segment Lists

Opens the Segment List Maintenance panel, allowing users to create and/or maintain segment lists (see Create or Maintain Segment Lists for more information).

Locate Segment

Opens the Locate A Segment panel, displaying the valid values, @ fields, or hierarchy values for each account segment.

Convert Spreadsheet Server Formulas

Opens the Convert Spreadsheet Server Formulas panel, allowing users to convert all Spreadsheet Server formulas (for example, GXL, GXD, GEXQ, GEX, etc.) to values for the current sheet or workbook.

Custom Layouts

Opens the Custom Layouts panel, displaying all custom layouts in the workbook and allowing users to remove layouts (see Custom Layout Editor for more information).

Data Validation

Opens the Data Validation panel, allowing users to create a validation list for a specific cell in Excel see Spreadsheet Server Validation for more information).

Fix Broken Links

Corrects all broken links to the XLL in the workbook.

Select Responsibility

For Oracle ledgers only, identifies the default responsibility for GXL formulas, unless the value is overridden in the formula. This value is set when an Oracle Default Responsibility is selected during sign on (see Oracle Sign On for more information). Click the displayed responsibility name to change the value.

Upgrade Workbook

Opens the Upgrade Workbook Options panel, allowing users to convert various legacy Spreadsheet Server and EDASH formulas in a workbook to revised Spreadsheet Server formulas.

Disconnect All Open Connections

Disconnects all open connections for Spreadsheet Server and queries.

Performance
  • The Performance panel displays various performance counts and statistics regarding how well Spreadsheet Server is processing. Use the following table to enter data in the Performance panel, or to access other functions:
  • SQL Execution Threshold: Specify the maximum amount of time, in seconds, to create an entry in the error log when a SQL statement exceeds the threshold specified.
  • Reset Statistics: Clears the performance statistic values, allowing counts and statistics to start accumulating again.

    Settings

    Opens the Spreadsheet Server Settings panel, allowing users to define various criteria to control processing and access the Log Viewer, or the online user manual (see Spreadsheet Server Settings for more information).

    Enable/Disabled

    Displays the current status. Click to toggle, or click the drop-down list to access individual Enable and Disable options (see Sign on for more information).

    SSRibbon Enabled

    View Log

    Opens the Log Viewer panel, where users may view, filter, or copy log entries, and email or clear the log file (see View Log for more information). Click drop-down list to access additional functions (for example, view log, clear log, or turn enhanced logging on or off).

    Note: An error message will appear if the ribbon cannot load properly due to a missing or corrupted file. Click Yes to view the logs, and, for assistance, contact your IT support to troubleshoot the error message in the logs.
