Custom Layout Editor

Custom layouts allow you to modify the output when generating the GEXD formula in Excel, without having to modify the query in Query Designer. You can select the fields to display, the order of the fields, or add fill down columns.

Note: This feature is also available when running the GPXD formula. Business view formulas are available to customers using the Platform shared data service.

Follow these steps to create or modify a custom layout:

  1. Select Formula Builder from the Spreadsheet Server ribbon.
  2. Select GEXD under Query Formulas.
  3. Once you select the query, you can perform one of the following actions:
    1. Click Create against the Custom Layout field to add a new layout for the query.
    2. Select an existing layout from the Custom Layout drop-down menu and then click Edit to modify it.
  4. In the Customize Result Layout panel, enter a name for the new layout in the Layout Name field. You cannot edit this field when modifying a layout.
  5. Create the layout under Selected Fields.
    1. Use the search bar to locate specific fields.
    2. The single arrows move the selected field between Available Fields and Selected Fields. You can select multiple fields using the ctrl key.
    3. The double arrows move all the fields between the columns.
    4. The add button adds a column to the layout that fills down to match the number of records in the results based on the inserted formula in the column. Enter the fill down column name and click Add.
    5. Drag and drop a field to the desired position in the list to modify the order.
  6. Click Apply to create or modify the custom layout.

Note: If you assign or modify a custom layout when updating the formula, you may lose the previous data and the column formatting may change.

Note: To remove a custom layout from a formula, select the blank value in the Custom Layout drop-down menu.

Deleting Custom Layouts

Follow these steps to delete a custom layout for a query:

  1. From the Spreadsheet Server ribbon, select Tools > Custom Layouts. The Custom Layout Manager panel displays, listing all the custom layouts.
  2. Select the layout you want to delete. You can use the search bar to locate a layout.
  3. Click the trash icon.
  4. Click Yes in the confirmation prompt. The application removes the custom layout from all the formulas in the workbook and deletes it.
