Insert a GEXD with Existing Parameters

The following example demonstrates using the Overwrite with Existing Parameters option when executing a GEXD formula with a new template. This option is used to insert only the formula in a desired cell, and using cell references to specify, update, or create its parameterized values.

  1. In an open worksheet in Excel, from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, select Formula Builder. The Formula Builder panel appears. Select the GEXD tab if it is not already active.
  2. Select the query you wish to execute using the Browse button in the Query Name row.
  3. Type the appropriate parameters and/or account segment data using the cell reference boxes and value boxes to the right of the parameter or account segment. Cell reference boxes are selected by typing the name of the cell reference, or, by clicking the cell reference box, then clicking the desired cell in your worksheet. If you select a cell reference containing a value, the value field will update to reflect that value. If no cell reference is selected, the content of the Value field will be inserted as a parameter directly, with no cell reference tied to it.
  4. Note: any further editing within the value field will update the value contained in that cell reference once the formula is inserted.
  5. Click the Insert button to insert the formula in the cell specified in Starting Cell.
  6. Click the Close button to close the panel.
