Build a GXL Template Using Insert and GXE

The following example demonstrates using the Insert and GXE option when processing a GXL formula template from Formula Builder. This option is used to insert a GXL formula template and build a complementary GXE formula. It inserts the GXL formula template into the worksheet, then opens the GXE panel with the Source Worksheet and Source Detail Row fields prepopulated.

  1. In an open worksheet in Excel, from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, click the Formula Builder button. The Formula Builder panel appears. Select GXL.
  2. Type the appropriate ledger parameters and account segment data.
  3. Click the down arrow under the Insert button, then select Insert with GXE.
  4. The template is generated and inserted, but Formula Builder remains open and displays the GXE panel.
  5. Type the appropriate data in the GXE panel.
  6. Click the Insert button.
