Expand or Collapse Segment
The Expand Segment feature allows users to create a GXL formula for each possible segment in a given segment value quickly and easily. Select the desired segment to be expanded, then, from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, select Expand Segment > Expand Segment .
The evaluation of the selected segment begins, and after the completion, the original record will be replaced by a number of GXL formulas equal to the number of segments returned in the expansion.
- The segment list can be horizontal or vertical when expanding a segment, but the GXL formula cell must be aligned with the chosen segment.
- It is necessary to rearrange the data on your sheet in order to expand the segment because all the values other than those in the expanded segment will be copied.
Example: Expand segment where the company value of 1* expanded into values 1, 101, and 102 – the single GXL formula is replaced with three identical formulas, but with the company segment changed to match each discrete value in the expansion.
Collapse Segment
Select any expanded segment, then, from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, select Expand Segment > Collapse Segment. The system removes the expanded segments in the selected section.
