Profile Encryption and Decryption

Profile encryption allows you to encrypt all the files included in your CustomGL and AdHocQueries folders to protect the data and avoid changes any end user can make by directly editing the XML files. Decrypting all your profiles and adhocs then allows you to make the required SQL changes yourself.

To encrypt or decrypt all the profile files, follow these steps:

  1. From the Spreadsheet Server ribbon, select Settings.
  2. In the Spreadsheet Server Settings panel, select Designer GL.
  3. Click Load Default GL Definition.
  4. In the Admin Feature prompt, enter your password and click OK.
  5. To encrypt profile files, select the Encrypt all profile files checkbox or to decrypt profile files, deselect the Encrypt all profile files checkbox.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click OK in the confirmation prompt.
  8. You can edit the decrypted files in the folders as required.

Note:
  • If you have enabled the Designer GL and Ad Hoc files encryption security option in Application Configurator, Spreadsheet Server hides the Encrypt all profile files checkbox in Settings and vice versa.
  • For new installations, users receive a default set of decrypted files. A support executive will encrypt the profiles during installation.
