Add a New Host Configuration for JD Edwards

The following General Ledger application settings apply to all users licensed when using a JDE (JD Edwards) General Ledger type or when connecting to a JD Edwards_FXA Designer GL, whether processing the General Ledger, Query, Query Designer or Spreadsheet Writeback feature. This article describes adding a Host for JD Edwards.

  1. From the Application Configurator panel, select the Application Settings tab. The Application Settings panel appears.
  2. Click the JD Edwards tab.
  3. To create a new host configuration, from the ribbon, click the New button. The system adds a new host configuration in the navigation pane, and the JD Edwards > Host Configuration panel appears.
  4. Use the following table to enter data in the JD Edwards > Host Configuration panel:
  5. Field

    Description

    Connection Type

Click the drop-down list, and, select the appropriate connection type. The selected connection type determines the fields available in the panel.

    Data Provider

For iSeries connection types, specify whether using OLEDB or ODBC for connectivity.

    Direct Connect

For Oracle connection types, if selected, the insightsoftware-provided direct connect option is used to access the database. Otherwise, the Host Name, Oracle SID, and Oracle Port fields are replaced with Oracle Service Name.

    Host Name/IP Address/DSN

Specify the server name, IP address, or DSN.

    User Name

Specify the user ID to be used to connect to the database. Click the ellipses button ( ... ) to insert the <SIGN-ON> literal in the field, indicating to use the specified user ID, when the user signs into Spreadsheet Server.

Note: If unattended sign in is being used, the user ID must be specified (<SIGN-ON> cannot be used).

    Password

    Specify the user password.

    Oracle SID

Specify the Oracle Service Name where the database is located (for example, VIS).

    Oracle Port

Specify the port number (for example, 1521).

    RAC (Real Application Clusters) Support

If selected, the system connects to the database using the Service Name/RAC defined in the RAC Server Connection Definition field. This field is only enabled when the Direct Connect option is selected.

Note: If this option is selected, a panel appears, allowing the user to select (highlight) the server connection to be used for RAC support. Once selected, click OK to populate the RAC Server Connection Definition field.

    RAC Server Connection Definition

Specify the server connection(s) to be used for RAC support. This field is only enabled when the RAC (Real Application Clusters) Support option is selected.

    Query Designer Libraries

For iSeries and SQL Server connection types, specify the libraries which may used in Query Designer.

    JDE Architecture for this Configuration

Specify whether the JD Edwards database being used is OneWorld/Enterprise or World.

Use JDE Multi-Currency option to determine decimal position

If selected, the decimal precision in Spreadsheet Server changes, based on the currency code used in the formula. To use this option, the JD Edwards system must be setup to handle multi-currency.

JDE security is required for this configuration

If selected, the security setup in JD Edwards is used for the host configuration.

Note: For OneWorld configurations only, this also includes reading the F00950 file to determine which tables the user is authorized to execute queries against in Query Designer and in Excel. JD Edwards security is not applicable while executing stored procedures.

    Secure Sockets Layer(SSL)

For iSeries connection types, if selected, SSL encryption is used for all data sent between the client and the server.

    Encrypt Connection

For SQL Server connection types, if selected, SSL encryption is used for all data sent between the client and the server.

    Trust Server Certificate

For SQL Server connection types, if selected, SQL Server trusts the certificate, regardless of the signing authority.

    Use Windows Integrated Security

For SQL Server connection types, if selected, the User Name and Password fields are disabled, and the Windows user sign in data is used to connect to the database.

    Support Unicode Characters

If selected, code is implemented to support unicode characters for the connection.

    JDE User ID

Specify the user ID to be used for testing security.

    Button

    Function
